A thrilling start to the 2026 season on the Ladies European Tour (LET) saw Charley Hull emerge victorious in the PIF Saudi Ladies International, claiming her first title of the year with a one-shot triumph.
Hull's final round performance was nothing short of exceptional, carding an impressive 65 to secure the win. The pivotal moment came on the 18th hole, where a birdie sealed the deal, putting her at seven-under par for the round and an overall tournament score of 19-under.
But here's where it gets interesting... South Africa's Casandra Alexander, who was still on the course, had the opportunity to either snatch the win from Hull or force a playoff. However, a bogey on the 17th and a par on the 18th left her just short, finishing in a tie for second with Japan's Akie Iwai at 18-under.
This victory in Saudi Arabia marks a significant milestone for Hull, who last tasted success on the LPGA Tour in Cincinnati back in September. It's also her first LET crown since November 2024, when she won the Aramco Team Series event, also held at the Riyadh Golf Club.
With this win, Hull has now claimed five LET titles before her 30th birthday next month. An incredible achievement, especially considering she started the day three shots behind the overnight leaders, Hye-Jin Choi and Rio Takeda.
So, what was the secret to Hull's impressive back-nine charge? Well, she credits it to a unique strategy. After the ninth hole, she made a quick trip to the toilet, grabbed some mashed potatoes, and came back with a burst of energy.
"I've been working hard during the off-season, and it's great to see the results so quickly," Hull said after receiving the winner's trophy.
Her compatriot, Mimi Rhodes, also had a strong showing, shooting a final round 67 to finish tied for sixth.
