A boil advisory has been issued by the City of Youngstown for several neighborhoods after a major water main break on Hubbard Road. This precautionary measure is in place due to the potential for organisms to enter the water supply, which could make people ill. While the city has not found evidence of contamination, it is urging residents to boil their drinking water for now. This advisory affects the City of Youngstown, Boardman Township, and Liberty Township. Residents are advised to boil water for one minute and cool it before use, or opt for bottled water. The city also warns of potential disruptions in water pressure, quality, and a temporary increase in lead levels. The United States Environmental Protection Agency recommends running the tap for several minutes to flush out any potential lead, using cold water for cooking and drinking, and regularly cleaning faucet aerators. Customers in Canfield and Austintown are not affected. The city is working to fix the line and will provide updates as they become available.
